Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (Polska) SA was established in 2001 and began operations in the second quarter of 2002 with the initial capital of PLN 112.6 million (equivalent of EUR 30 million).
As a result of allocating all profits obtained in the following years of operation to increase equity and the one-off additional increase of Bank's capital by the shareholders in course of years, Bank's equity, as at the end of 2008, has nearly tripled as compared to the initial amount, reaching the amount of PLN 338.3m (equivalent of EUR 81 million).
The Bank is 100% owned by its Dutch parent company, i.e. the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (Holland) N.V. based in Amsterdam.
Having its subsidiary in Poland and branch offices in Vienna and Prague, the parent company recognizes Poland, Austria and the Czech Republic as a gateway for further expansion in Central and East European countries, where a growing number of Japanese companies are active.
The common strategic objective of both banking institutions, both in Amsterdam and in Poland, is to be among the top performing foreign-owned banks striving to match the high standards of customer oriented service by providing value-added banking services and excellent operations.
Both banks are a part of the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG), which with respect to its disposable assets, amounting to the equivalent of EUR 1,210 billion, is ranked as one of the largest financial groups globally, conducting business in 40 countries the world over and formulating strategic business decisions for all members of the Group.
